An old-timer named Cyril Green once described the perfect Devon cow... "A brick with legs," he said. "Just like one of those old drawings where the head looks too small for the body, that's what the original cows looked like, before everyone started messing with their breeding." The Devons that we have in our herd today are likely descended from the original Devons first brought to the American colonies, before records of pedigrees were kept. You can tell from the stature and breed standard description that these regal Devons are true to the American Milking Devon Cattle breed standard, as well as true to the original Devon Breed Standard included in the classic Davy's Devon Herd Books from England where the breed originated.
